IMPORTANT UPDATE

"Because of deteriorating conditions the attempt has been called off on safety grounds.
The team are bitterly disappointed and are in discussions about another attempt either later in the year or next year.
We would like to thank all our supporters and in particular our sponsors and would like to ask them to continue supporting us through to our next attempt.

We will update you in due course as we do not intend to give up!"

The Reivers12 - and the challenge of our lives!

LATEST UPDATE 28/5/11 - ADVERSE SEA CONDITIONS PREVAIL. ATTEMPT IS NOW EXPECTED TO START AT 11.00 MONDAY, 30TH MAY

LATEST UPDATE 27/5/11 - DUE TO ADVERSE SEA CONDITIONS THE ATTEMPT WILL NOW START AT 11.00 ON SUNDAY, 29TH MAY

Last year we rowed from London to Paris. After months of training, being run over by a ferry on the Thames and during the event itself, being rescued from some hellish sea conditions on the North Sea, we eventually made it to Paris but can't say that we did it all. Unfortunately, sea conditions prevented us rowing the Channel section which was a massive disappointment.

We have some unfinished business!

So this year we have decided to have another attempt but this time turn around under the Eiffel Tower and row back to Big Ben. We are aiming to  break the record for rowing a Gig to Paris and set the first ever record for a continuous row from London to Paris and back again. With such a massive physical and mental challenge we wanted to compliment it with a similarly big effort to raise money for 2 very worthwhile charities.

Please dig deep and help us meet our charity challenge. Knowing we are raising money with every mile we row will keep us going through the night and the difficult times.

Thank you. Reivers 12

Top celebrities offer their support to the Reivers12 ...

"When I heard about last year' challenge to row from London to Paris I thought the team were mad. Now that they have decided to do it again and then row back again, I know they are!

I wish them every success, not only with the row, a feat of endurance never attempted before, but also with their fundraising effort which is for two very worthwhile charities in Great Ormand Street Hospital and the Gauchers Association."

Sir Steve Redgrave

“I’m so impressed with the challenge that the Reivers12 have set themselves this year and really hope that they break the record.  I’m even more impressed that they are going to be raising funds towards the Raising the Roof appeal at Great Ormond Street.  They are going to be helping to fund a new children’s neurosciences centre at the hospital to provide care for children with conditions such as tumours of the brain and spinal cord and epilepsy.”
  Kenny Logan

Good luck to the fantastic Reivers 12 who are undertaking this tremendous challenge.

The Gauchers Association is so grateful to Reivers 12 for choosing to support us and the wonderful doctors and their teams at Great Ormond Street who are facing their own challenge of trying to better understand and thus treat the  Neurological manifestions of Gaucher disease which affect children and young adults.

On behalf of our members I send every good wish to every member of the  team  as well our profound admiration and immense gratitude. We are praying our calm waters and sunny skies.

Jeremy Manuel O.B.E.
Chairaman Gauchers Association UK

"I applaud the Reivers' efforts and wish each and every one of them well as they undertake their final six months of preparation for this highly demanding event”

Roger Black MBE
